About Us...
French
Floyd is the founder of Sylacauga Handicapped, Inc.. They have been in business
for over 25 years and were one of the first handicap dealers in the state of
Alabama.
Mr. Floyd saw a need for others, as well as himself. Because of his health in
the early 60's, being diagnosed with Muscular-Dystrophy, he had to go to Florida
for his equipment. There was not a place in the state of Alabama that offered
what he needed in the way of adaptive equipment. He took it upon himself in 1981
to start Sylacauga Handicapped, Inc.
After establishing the business, he found much
satisfaction in helping handicapped people from Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi,
Tennessee, and the Florida Panhandle obtain the handicap adaptive equipment they
needed to enable them to be more mobile and self reliant. And being handicapped
himself, he found things that worked well and things that didn't. So he only
carried the best items for his fellow handicapped persons.
French Floyd took trusted family members into the
business and trained them on the needs of handicapped people. They had great
pride and initiative in helping their relative, which carried over in their
desire to help other handicapped persons.
French Floyd has now passed and has gone on to a
better place. But his pride in his business, and his desire to provide services
and equipment for other handicapped persons has been carried over to his son,
Frenchie Floyd, and the rest of the staff of Sylacauga Handicapped, Inc.
Frenchie is carrying on his father's business in
a manner that would make his dad proud. And Frenchie has learned all the in's
and out's of working with the Veterans Administration, most major insurance
companies, and the state administrative procedures for Alabama and the
surrounding states of Georgia, Mississippi, Tennessee, and Florida.
So whatever your need, You can count on Sylacauga
Handicapped to be helpful, and willing to go the extra mile to see that you get
the equipment that's right for you, whatever your needs!
